Jermell Charlo, Arrested – According to the sources that spoke with ESPN’s Mike Coppinger on Wednesday, Jermell Charlo, the current super welterweight champion, was arrested on Saturday outside of Houston and charged with misdemeanor assault causing bodily harm to a member of his family. The post states that on Tuesday, Charlo’s wife filed for a temporary restraining order in addition to a divorce. Details about the event are not yet available to the public, though.

On Monday, Charlo was released from the Fort Bend County Jail after posting bond. The jail is situated close to Houston’s southwest corner. This is, at the absolute least, the 33-year-old’s second experience with domestic violence. He was arrested and charged with felony domestic violence in 2018 when it was claimed that he choked his ex-girlfriend. But after a year and a thorough inquiry, he was declared not guilty of the accusation.

Charlo has a 35-2-1 record overall and has eliminated 19 opponents. He put on weight, reaching 168 pounds, to compete against Canelo Alvarez earlier this fall. He was stopped in the seventh round of that bout, and a unanimous decision decided the winner. Charlo was battling Alvarez for the title of undisputed super middleweight champion in the fight that happened in Las Vegas. Currently, Charlo, who fights under the Premier Boxing Champions banner, has no scheduled bouts. His twin brother Jermall Charlo is presently the WBC middleweight champion, having defeated Jose Benavidez in November. With a 33-0 record, he continues to hold the top rank in the division.
