Dillan Kelsey, Arrested and charged with first degree robbery

Dillan Kelsey, Arrested – Calera resident Dillan Kelsey was placed under arrest following the execution of an arrest warrant on Saturday, December 16 at 4:52 a.m. on suspicion of first-degree robbery. Police reports state that on December 15th, Kelsey’s arrest warrant was signed and issued for a crime that was allegedly committed a few days earlier. That report states that on December 12, Kelsey reportedly stole cash worth an undisclosed amount from a person he knew.

Using a Glock 17 pistol and threatening to use force while robbing the victim, Kelsey is charged with carrying out the heist. But it required a search and took some time to apprehend Kelsey. In several posts on social media on December 15, the Calera Police Department requested that people remain watchful and provide any useful information. This was done in the afternoon. In one of the tweets, the Calera Police Department confirmed that Kelsey, who is eighteen years old, was acquainted with the victim and that the act was not carried out randomly.

After Kelsey’s arrest warrant was issued, the hunt for him ended in the early hours of the morning with aid from other nearby municipalities. Chief of Police David Hyche of Calera Police Department expressed gratitude to the following agencies for their assistance: University of Montevallo Police Department, Alabaster Police Department, Helena, Alabama Police Department, and Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. Situations like these are very rare in Calera. If we move quickly to apprehend suspects and employ every resource at our disposal, they will continue to be rare. Earlier in September, there was a reported incident where Kelsey was brought into jail in Alabaster on suspicion of carrying marijuana in the second degree. This is Kelsey’s most recent arrest.
